Facial Rejuvenation and Natural Skin Care

Sometimes being committed to a natural approach can be difficult!  One such area is the cosmetic remedies to aging skin. Botox?  Facelifts? Fillers?  Many of us say no to these harsh, toxic methods.   Even the popular creams and potions are loaded with toxins and carcinogens such as pthalates , parabens and nanoparticles which can find their way into our bloodstream.  Did you know that  Botox now carries a black box warning that describes the risk of paralysis at distant parts of the body from injection. 

What is woman (or man) to do as they see the inevitable signs of age – poor skin tone, wrinkling, age spots, sagging, sallow complexion when they look in the mirror?  Do you have to choose between watching your looks fade or submitting to the harsh, toxic and dangerous measures available?  The answer fortunately is, No!

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is a painless, non-surgical method of reducing the signs of the aging process.  Facial rejuvenation acupuncture helps to improve muscle tone and dermal contraction especially in the face and neck.  Bags and sagging around the eyes, face, and neck can be significantly reduced and toned up.  Healthy facial coloring can be restored and there can be tightening of the pores.  Habitual expressions resulting from stress are transformed, resulting in a remarkably younger, calmer, and less worn looking face with which to meet the world.

How does it work?

For thousands of years, the Chinese have known that beauty comes from the inside.  At least as early as the Sung Dynasty (960AD-1270AD) acupuncture rejuvenation practices were employed for the Empress and the Emperor's concubines.  The Chinese discovered and utilized ways to change the energy flow within the body to initiate the healing process for rejuvenation.  Though facial rejuvenation acupuncture can sometimes be referred to as an acupuncture facelift, it is more than a cosmetic procedure.  It is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help the whole body look and feel younger.

Based on the principles of Oriental Medicine, facial rejuvenation acupuncture involves the insertion of hair-thin needles into particular areas of the face, ears, neck, hands, trunk, and legs along channels of meridians of energy called Qi (pronounced chee).  Specific points are chosen to manipulate the movement of Qi in the body according to the individual's needs.  Many meridians either begin or end on the face while some have internal branches that go to the face.  Therefore, treatments specifically affect the face while simultaneously treating the underlying factors that contribute to the aging process.

Who would benefit from Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Anyone concerned with looking and feeling young and slowing down the aging process.  Different methods are emphasized and specific points stimulated according to how an individual is aging.  A person with excess puffiness, for example, would require a different treatment than someone with dry skin.

Does it really make a difference?

The use of acupuncture in cosmetology- especially in preventing and reducing wrinkles, has already attracted great attention in Japan, Hong Kong, and Sweden. The effectiveness of acupuncture is due to its ability to balance the body's energy system.  A 1996 report in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that among 300 cases treated with facial acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment.  The effects included: the skin becoming more delicate and fair, improvement of the elasticity of facial muscles and leveling of wrinkles, a rosier complexion, and overall rejuvenation- not confined to the face.  Common sense would tell us that treating underlying imbalances is preferable to masking the outward symptoms and allowing further decline and dysfunction to continue within the body.

Why choose facial rejuvenation acupuncture over a surgical face-lift? 
While not a replacement for surgery, acupuncture facial rejuvenation is an excellent alternative.  It is far less costly than cosmetic surgery and is safe, virtually painless, has no side effects or risk of disfigurement.  Unlike surgery that may have an extended recovery period with swelling and discoloration, there is no trauma from facial rejuvenation acupuncture.  While facial rejuvenation acupuncture cannot reshape one's nose or chin, it is a more subtle rejuvenation that takes years off one's face safely and naturally while improving overall health. .  Habitual expressions resulting from stress are transformed, resulting in a remarkably younger, calmer, and less worn looking face with which to meet the world.

Vibraderm skin resurfacing is a highly effective, non-invasive procedure with no down time. It effectively and safely removes damaged, dull skin cells from the face, neck and décolleté (upper chest) area. You will see an immediate improvement in skin tone and color and the treatment stimulates collagen formation and encourages new skin cell turnover. Once the dead skin surface has been removed, Vibrafusion utilizing a smooth paddle is performed to infuse the new skin with organic vitamin, mineral and anti-oxidant serums from the Hungarian skin care line, Eminence.

Your journey to a beautiful, restored, vital complexion next draws on the Asian facial rejuvenation treatments of "Gua Sha", a relaxing, gentle method for stimulating lymph drainage and removal of toxins, and "Jade Lift". All components of the East Meets West Facial Rejuvenation Treatment are performed by Dr. MacDonnell, a Board Certified Acupuncturist and Medical Doctor. Please allow about one hour for your treatment. There is no down time or special after care required; however you should avoid direct sun exposure for 24 hours following your treatment.

East Meets West Facial Rejuvenation treatments are $150 per session and are also offered in a package of five treatments for $600.
