Men's Wellness Program
Health Issues in men are often quite different from those in women. Stress, aging, fitness, sexual health and other matters often affect men quite differently than they affect women. Men are more likely to "suffer in silence" and to be reluctant to discuss concerns or to seek help. Yet we know that men have a higher incidence, earlier onset and poorer outcome in all the major diseases such as heart disease and cancer.
Our Men's Welllness Program is designed specifically for men and their health issues and offers an opportunity to restore the vigor and vitality that may have diminished. NCHC's comprehensive health screening and intervention addresses factors often overlooked in routine primary care – factors that could be contributing to a silent decline in overall health and which pose an increased risk for chronic disease.
The Program begins with initial consultation and review of past medical history, family history nutrition, medication history, current supplements, stress assessment, exercise/fitness evaluation, toxic exposures and sexual health. Any known health problems and issues will be identified and any previous pertinent test results or imaging will be reviewed.
Following this visit laboratory testing will be ordered. Testing is ordered on an individual basis but typical requests include:
- Complete blood count
- Complete metabolic panel
- High sensitivity C-reactive protein – a marker of inflammation
- Testosterone panel
- Food allergy testing including gluten/celiac
- Cholesterol profile
- Vitamin levels
When lab results are available – typically about two weeks later, a follow up appointment will be arranged. Based on the initial consultation and the lab findings, recommendations will be made encompassing nutrition, exercise, supplements and any other appropriate interventions or referrals.
